Intermittent fasting has gained a lot of buzz lately and has become one of the most famous forms of dieting today. But the real question is this: does it work?
To answer that question, you first need to understand what intermittent fasting is. It is a dieting strategy where you give yourself a smaller window of time to eat meals. For example, you would mark out eight continuous hours throughout your day to eat. You would then abstain from eating the other sixteen.
Now, there are a few reasons why this approach would work. For one, it gives your body more time to enter ketosis: a reaction your body has that burns fat for energy after it is out of carbs.
Intermittent fasting also increases your chance of consuming fewer calories, which is at the core of all weight loss. So, hypothetically, intermittent fasting can work. But the question you should be asking is whether intermittent fasting right for you.
